Two Things to Know about January 2013

Annual NSIS Geography Bee
After Winter Break, students will participate in a classroom geography bee during social studies class.   Students will complete seven preliminary rounds in the classroom.   These questions will focus on  US/World geography and culture.  The preliminary rounds will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Students will earn one point for each correct answer, and the one student who has the most points will qualify as the classroom's geography bee representative.  On January 11th, every fifth and sixth grade homeroom representative will compete in the school's annual Geography Bee.   Visit this link for more information or sample questions:

Fifth Grade Field Trip
The fifth grade field trip is coming soon! Fifth grade is going to visit the Carnegie Science Center and SportsWorks.   Permission slip forms have already been sent home and are due back to school on Friday, December 21st.   You must also indicate on the back of the permission slip if the student is bringing a brown bag lunch from home or purchasing one from the cafeteria.   Students who do not return a signed permission slip will not be able to accompany the class to Carnegie Science Center.
